Hi Linda, thanks for writing. I am one of those cross-disciplinary people who worked in various fields before joining academia in 2004 -- journalism, public relations, retail advertising, international advertising agency management, marketing communications consultancy, and team creativity consulting. My Masters was in Education (Human resource development) and my doctorate was in accelerated adult team creativity (Synectics, metaphors, accelerated learning, andragogy). I have been trained in Synectics, lateral thinking, Six Hats, mind mapping, and the Osborn-Parnes Creative Problem Solving (CPS) Process. In 2005, I created a Creative Thinking unit for my university, Edith Cowan University, and have been teaching it to undergraduates and postgraduates -- covering topics such as mind mapping, Synectics, CPS, brainstorming, TRIZ Russian invention principles, attribute listing, and morphological synthesis. I am a member of the Creative Education Foundation, American Creativity Association, the Asia-Pacific Creative Skills Training Council, Public Relations Society of America, Marketing Educators Association, etc. My profile can be found on:

I am quite fascinated by some of the things you have accomplished in your relatively young age. I am sure there is a lot one can and should learn from the experience you have acquired thus far. With two boys, a house and a marriage, I do believe it is undoubtedly a challenge.Perhaps, you can tell me more about the benefits of Dr De Bono's method and how it can assist one's politics of multilateralism as you have rightly pointed out.

Dear Linda,

For the chat with Dr. De Bono, I have a few questions, suggestions:

a) how could "we" (to be defined) accelerate the dissemination of his ideas worldwide and make
them more influential? Everything goes too slow and the obstacles - as irrational thinking are growing like bamboo...

b) what is dr. De Bono's opinion about the existence, more precisely the action, of memes?
Bad memes are creativity killers.

c) Why was the idea of septoes abandoned? I consider this is a great loss of a very nice mental discipline.

Best wishes,
Peter

One thing I would like to see is an actual 6 hats or a lateral thinking session on film. I've read most of Dr De Bono's books and heard him speak, but it would be nice to see what a thinking session with a experienced facilitator would look like.

maybe we could allow the newer minds to teach and shape the older in ever expanding imagination and room for ever more complex depths. Instead of forcing the water down the funnel bring it up the funnel so as always overflowing. Linda I am new to de Bono work from suggestions from others I have met by chance. So the site I"ll use to read and see what comes up.

Thank you for your work

Ok! Thanks Linda.

I'd like to find out how to use this blog for the best. I reckon the discussion of ideas is one of the things I'd like to do, but i guess is much more than that. There is a LOT of talented and intelligent people out there. This place is the right place to meet up.

by any chance, is this an automated system? I mean your answer is not yours, is recorded somewhere? If so i am very dissapointed.

Thanks Linda

my first contact with Dr De Bono's thinking methods was through my mother, she used to be a school teacher in Venezuela back in the 80's during the time the government implemented the program in schools called "Intelligence Development". I still got a very thin course book with the technics for thinking.

In fact my mum was one of the first fully trained teachers who implemented the program successfully. Unfortunately the lack of continuity in the government's policies ruined such a great initiative.

About the results of that program in Venezuela, i feel my country's politicians are not ready for running a country of intelligent people. They bet for poverty and ignorance as a way of remaining in power like history shows in many cases. However, although Venezuela is going through it darkest hours (more than 500,000 talented people have fled, including myself) I still have hope in the future when people would stop believing in messianic leaders to save them and work hard to saving themselves.

I must admit that it took a while for me to get the grips on De Bono's teachings, and now as an adult I feel the real power of those technics. I've been following from time to time what's new about Dr De Bono's work. And everytime I found something new, feels great being able to understand and practice. Particularly the book "Tactics" has been a tool for improve self confidence and self believe.

Keep in touch
