In theory ... one theory at least ... it's me - Mine is comfortably beyond the lower threshold for claims of genius level IQ, without it being smugly satisified with itself and distastefully brash
I'll tell you now though ... I'm no genius - You don't need my word for it ... you just have to read my ramblings to see that ... and I know from bitter experience
There is a school of thought that posits that what I consider my way of thinking about things is what genius is ... all that it is - That is, simply seeing something obvious and saying so before anyone else around them does
But that's not genius; I just can't see the Emperor's new clothes and say what I see instead - It's just going on Mastermind with the specialist subject of The bleedin' obvious
Yet ... to so many people I've met ... it seems as mysterious / miraculous / inscrutable / incomprehensible as Quantum Mechanics - And they certainly don't get my seemingly unorthodox views upon that either
The thing is, however, that what I see seems so self-evident that I don't understand why other people don't see that it is so
They get distracted by all kinds of irrelevant detail or even complete fantasy and seem to lose sight of what's staring them in the face ... unable to see the wood for the trees, let alone mentally position it or themselves in the Universe
A case in point is the expression "The pot is calling the kettle black"
So what, if it is? ... that's not the issue here ... We can examine the state of the pot later, but right now we're talking about the ketle and it is black, so what, if anything, do you propose is going to be done about it? - Stick to the point, dammit!
So ... what is genius?
That it's not me is as plain as the nose on my face
EdB, is a genius
He wasn't just able to see things as they were, but formulate a way to improve upon them
So, genius seems to have some extra dimension to either the school of thought that favours IQ as a measure of genius or the one that favours 'the eyes of a five-year-old child', so to speak ... some capcity to see alternatives as easily as realities
I wonder if EdB himself could shed any light upon matters by describing what it's like to be EdB
I don't know why - They seem to simply be a case of stating the obvious to me
