I am very interested in how the brain works, in fact it takes up a lot of my time exploring the facets of my head, literally!!!

Hello, I am an explorer.

I am a person very interested in how our minds work. I am inventive and curious in nature. An engineer. A marketeer. A producer. And a speaker, i hope in some time. The source of my interest in the mind, is a difficulty i have always had with learning and memory. I have always been challnaged to learn and my memory has been deteriorating over the years. I am 35. And keen to make a leap into a new chapter of how i experience my intelect.

Where i am at the moment in terms of my exploration is the discovery of what seems like vast areas (of my brain)that seem (feel) redundant. These areas are not perceived the same as others; they are "lighter", seeming less in mass. To bring the title of this blogg into context, what i now do is give these "lighter" areas more attention, feeling their limits, where they cease to be experienced as i described. Now that this area is defined, i experiment with relabeling it into something more useful, i'll let you know how i get on!

Time is of great interest to me also especially in terms of creativity and change. I experience that society all too often accepts that "generations" are required for real change. When you are 25 years old, you cannot change, you are who you are. Nonsense i say. Time is perceived, time is a string in our belief system. I would like to share the idea with you that change only takes a long as we perceive time to act. Wow, sounds strange when its written that plainly.

As for space, its 40 years since appollo 11 when man ventured further from the planet than ever before, or since for that matter. I support Mr. de Bono in his quest to address the way we think and that maybe its high time that we begin a new era of inner space exploration; the space within. Inside our heads exists our every experience. The first step on the moon. Towers falling. Our first kiss. Our mothers gaze. The entire universe, as we experieince it, remember it, dream of it, exists witihn us. Therefor all our limits are within us. Wow, sounds strange when its written so plainly.

Maybe to complete, i will share my goal with you. I have read and been told that we only use a fraction of our brains. It will be another 20 years before the singularity will occur and in this day appoximately a football pitch of computers would be required to match the processing power of our brains. We (humanas) have an incredible resource (our minds) but somehow i fail to believe we are using it to its full potential. I am for mindful evolution on mindblowing scale. My goal is to access my (our) full potential and be available to assist in solving our most pressing challanges.

Kind regards,

Robert Maher

Hi,
Reading what you have written, i felt a kind of resonance. Its exactly what i have believed in and at times i have struggled so hard that i have been left wondering as to how i could make future headway.I am interested in exploring the limits of my mind and right now i am working on what i like to think as accelerators for the mind.Memory is based on the renewal of the neural connections and a good way to speed it up is to practice recalling.I choose any paritcular event in the past and try to recover that in as much detail as i can. Often i find that the first five min into the ex seem tough but then when i think i am done my mind offers me a new detail. Its a funny thing but soon you reach a level where you can almost hear the wheels of your mind turning.

Hi Robert!
If you are truly interested in the potential of the human brain, you should seek out all the studies that have been carried out in the States in the past 20 years on NEUROPLASTICITY. It is a fascinating subject and shows that by exercising our minds we can change our brain structure thus enhancing all aspects of our lives our lives. The way we think can be changed even to cure depression and other ilnesses.
