Interesting concept ... Especially in terms of making the World more aware ... (or should that be at all aware?) ... of his contribution to more than simply Mankind, but the World as a whole - Has he received a Nobel (Peace) Prize yet ... and, if not, why not?

Of lesser utility, but, perhaps, more fun, I would propose adopting the multiball feature of pinball games, instead of penalty shootouts.

If the game is a draw at full-time, an extra ball is added to play.

If there has been no decisive win after fifteen minutes of extra time, a second extra ball is added.

If there has been no decisive win after thirty minutes of extra time, with the aid of three balls, then, frankly, neither side should be playing at all, in my opinion, and should face relegation to the next division down.

Now there's an incentive to 'go for goal' ... And it'd be a laugh for the spectators too, I reckon - The Keystone Cops Play Soccer

I'll have to look at the rules of Australian football - All I know is that the shirts were designed without sleeves to stop the players from strangling each other with them ;)

As an Aussie I find the ultra low scoring soccer game hard to appreciate.

Multi-balls opens up all sorts of possibilities. More than 2 balls, balls of different colours/sizes/shapes/different scoring for each ball. You can even have a combined soccer/Aussie rules football match. Imagine that. Or you could have larger teams, imagine 50 players on each side with 5 balls in play.

My favourite soccer match was held in Sydney between the nerds and "Melbourne Victory". The nerds lost badly but they scored 2 goals (albeit one of them was when a Melbourne player kicked the ball in his own goal.)

I've been talking to someone about this idea and a new one has arisen as a result

Take a football (soccer) pitch and superimpose a second one over it at ninety degrees, the centre spots meeting perfectly

Take four teams (Black vs White and Red vs Blue, for instance) of six players each - One goal-keeper, two defenders, one centre-forward and two strikers

Each team plays its opponents as usual, but may play on both pitches

A goal scored in the opposing team's net is worth two points

A goal scored in one of the other teams' nets is worth one point

The team with the most points scored wins

So far so so so ;)

However, it becomes a matter of some importance when the goalkeeper has to decide which of two approaching balls to save - Do they stop their opponents' ball and prevent them gaining an advantage of two points ... or do they stop the other ball which, although it is only worth one point, means that one of the other two teams will win overall and advance further in the league?
