A story of creativity from India
Since my college days, I was fascinated about reading. My vision and dream revolved around achieving successes and milestones through the ideas picked up from various writings. I always looked for the historical as well as live examples to understand the importance of various ideas for personal and career progression.
In 90s, I heard about Mr Narayana Murthy, Chairman, Infosys Technologies, Ltd. I started reading a lot about him and his work. That time I was in my 30s and working in the telecom field. As was switching over to Information Technology, my affection towards Narayana Murthy increased manifold. Today when Infosys is one of the top most outsourcing company in this flat world, I am proud to confess the evolutions of those moments around ten years back. But influence of Narayan Murthy did not help me to be creative.
Infosys Technologies has been built by eight founder members. And as I have read about Infosys and Narayna Murthy, one thing became very clear to me that a sound value can create miracles and make many millionaires. I started believing and adhering to values set by the people like Narayana Murthy in my personal as well as professional life. Even today, I am found of three things in my personal and professional life – sound values, concrete information and integrity of knowledge. Things were coming to some shape but creativity was just not possible in prevailing circumstances. I continued searching means for a creative skill.
Over last more than fifteen years, I feel that the desire and will power to believe and adhere to those creative needs have increased manifold. The ups and down are the integral part of life and one must come to these terms to adjust with the changes. Successes and falilure are not affecting me to change my desire to be creative. I am rather more fascinated about these innovations and creativity as I grow in my life.
In the middle of 1990s, I picked up the book titled “Serious Creativity” and seriously started finding the ways and means of creativity. I went through complete set of Lateral Thinking and Six thinking hats. I always started rehearsing the situations through six thinking hats or lateral thinking to achieve what I wanted to create. It took me around ten years to read major part of the book “Serious Creativity” but it gave me what I wanted – a key to creativity.
The adherence to the right path has helped me to find right direction and futuristic approach. Serious creativity helped to create. Because of this reason, I became confident to publish my first book on most innovative ideas titled “Unlearn Before U Learn, Seven Critical factors to Get out of Rut’ by Kamekish in Jul 2007 by Bibliophile South Asia, New Delhi. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ulbul/ Based on these unlearning theories and sound values, I have managed to deliver many presentations, workshops and spoke in national and International seminars at Indian Institute of Technology, Jawahar Lal Nehru University at New Delhi and many other places.
I always maintain very high standard and ethical manners in my dealing with my staff, clients and people around me. I use to deal with various situations with the help of Lateral Thinking. I find them very influential and effective. I get encouraging response from the people. I find them useful in my all endeavours. I am always encouraged to adhere to those human values.
In this information age, where integrity of data is very important to create knowledge and wisdom, reaching closure to truth can never be dreamed without maintaining value systems in life. I always find these values as essential tool to reach to truth. The concept like Lateral Thinking made me believe in myself. The belief not only became enforced but firm when I could coach my daughter to play at National level Squash championship. Recently she won all Indian Squash Championship conducted by ISP.
Today I firmly believe that I can make a difference to Indian society. The people here are so conservative and outdated and in all these situations, because of the idea like creative thinking did miracle. A sound value system is must for any growing society. The things change with time. Understanding the right values becomes very tricky in this skidding field in 21st century. I feel that through seven critical factors, we shall be able to understand the evolutions of a modern world in very confusing and chaotic scenario. Through these seven factors, we can achieve unlearning. I am happy to confess that unlearning is the result of lateral thinking and serious creativity.
To be happy and prosperous in real terms, all human beings have to reach closure to truth and right information. I feel that advent of Information Technologies and networking of 6 billion human beings are going to open a new dynamic and prospering world in the time to come. The world has become flat and Vasudev Kutumbkam is not a proverb only but a reality. The people have come closure and world has become one. Innovation and creativity are going to get the highest priority in all the dealings of the people.
As the importance of learning increases across the world, the value of unlearning will increase many fold. In all these situations, the demand for innovations and creativity will remain at the core of human needs and so deBono and his thinking methodologies.
Thank you!!
