can anyone out there let me know if lateral thinking has anything to do with these people who can instinctively rub and massage little boys heads.who have behaviour problems,to make them feel better?

Really Using the Tools

There is a reason for having the Lateral Thinking tools, that is one of the value of formality. As Edward himself has said many times, people will often think they are using the tools when in fact they are not. Using the tools formally ensures that they are actually used. Similarly with the Six Hats or the CoRT and DATT tools.

FIXED MINDSET;the biggest barrier to Creative Thinking

Our minds do the thinking before we think.The fixed set of beliefs in our mind do influence us in taking decisions before we actually apllly our mind to a problem. Do youngsters know how things work?

I visited a local school open day yesterday and the ten year olds who showed me around seemed to know a lot of facts but I wondered whether they knew much about how things worked.

Edward de Bono often says that school kids should be taught how the corner shop works - but it seems very unlikely that this school would ever teach this.
