Profile Information

Hi,

I've been interested in Edward DeBonos books and teaching for a long time. I remember hearing his story about digging holes in new locations rather than merely digging a deeper hole, as far back as the early 1970s.

I am a chess tutor and sometimes work as an IT trainer or computer programmer.

Laughter clubs

Posted on April 22, 2010 at 3:00 5 Comments

I would like to share something. I have been a member of a couple of different laughter clubs over the years.

(The technical term is laughter yoga)

We meet weekly, do some stretching and exercises and do a whole bunch of laughter exercises for about half an hour. Between laughter we clap hands and go "ho ho, ha ha ha". Jokes are not used.

The basic theory is that it increases oxytocin (the love hormone) and other feel good hormones. Even if the laughter is not real, it is… Continue

Competition entry : A mind simulation

Posted on July 19, 2009 at 3:27 2 Comments

A software program I have written simulates some of the processes of the human mind.

The basic idea is to use a model of the mind that is as simple and abstract as possible. It uses some ideas from the early book 'Mechanics of Mind' (the octupusses on the beaches etc).

The self-organizing artificial mind stores units of information. Each unit links to one or more other 'neurons'. Links (nerve pathways) are one way. I found it much easier to create the simulation using one… Continue

"Curious to know what your definition of a streetsmart mind is."

My definition of a streetsmart mind(mine): Is to se solutions based on the personalities and surrondings and "feel" what is right to do(to be the chameleon and adapt). Many times I trust my sense and always find a great solution when a "barrier" appers.

So a streetsmart mind uses the surrondings to solve problems with a empty pocket.

I don't know if you know what I meen but I tried to explain. Give me more questions and I'll try to answer them as good as I can. :D

Hi Jack,

Welcome to the debonosociety, I hope we can provide you with a good experience. Apologies for the delay in welcoming you. I have been moving house.

It would be great if you could add some profile information to your text box on your page (even a small amount of information) in order to help others converse more easily with you, thanks for your photo.

When we update the site with podcasts we will let you know. Be sure to check in regularly for Edwards updates.

Please feel free to invite all your business associates and colleagues to join. This is an information based website for people to learn from too.

It is our intention to make a part of the site more information based for people new to de Bono and who may just want to ask questions, we are working on this.

Feel free to contact me as you need.

Kind regards. Linda
