Introduction

My first contact to the work of Edward De Bono was, when i collected material about creativity to teach my students at a design university. Before that i have done a lot mindmapping. It took me quite some time to find out and even more time to appreciate the power of various tools (my favorite book over the years: "Serious Creativity" and "Lateral Thinking", "How to have a beautiful mind" is my favorite present to anyone).

Now, after more than 10 years struggling and trying hard to get it working, i have become a certified trainer. After starting a few companies in the last 3 years (with partners in areas like: high tech environmental, consultancy, web-solutions) i decided to focus on just a few things, that became the center of myself: thinking in new ways, train hard and develop physical skills as well (martial arts, qi gong, etc.) and tell it to others.

I am looking forward talking to many of you here in this community. All the best to all of you and see you soon.

Jakov

Jacob.

There is an online Six Thinking Hats tutorial available. Your best bet is to check de Bono Consulting in Des Moines, Iowa. click here for the description.

Welcome to the lineup! Hope you'll enjoy the honorific effects.
;o)
We have matching owls too - thanks to Asa. Sweet, wasn't it of her? In the USA, owls mean you're wise... I"ll have to ask what owls symbolize in Asa's culture...

You may not yet have considered it, but you can also request from Linda Laird to be listed professionally on the "trainers" tab in the navigation bar too.

Hi, Jakov,

Thanks for your friend request and nice message. Happy to accept.

I've been working with the de Bono skills for some time, but just the basic ones -- CoRT 1 and CoRT 4 (lateral thinking). I am best at PMI, OPV, APC and PO, Random Input, Stepping Stones.

Many here are much more advanced than I.

Also, I don't believe in using the de Bono "jargon" in my posts, so it is sometimes hard for me to decipher what the others have written.

I must ask Ken Bopp to put a glossary on his Google Docs page.

My husband and I are getting ready to travel--from mid July until mid August, with only intermittent access to email, so little possibility of postings from me for a while.

Meanwhile, here is a short bio sketch about my early experience with the EdB skills:

Got Brain Rust? Call the Braintrust!…

A think tank I co-founded in suburban New Jersey and named: The First National Braintrust & Company.
Purpose: to train, practice and use the basic CoRT skills--CoRT 1 and CoRT 4.

Looks like a bank? Yes. Our tagline was: “You can bank on our thinking.”

During The Braintrust’s existence, our members originated a couple of unique products: a random word machine to provoke lateral thinking (I still use one), and a Thinking Certificate program, to promote thinking services.

A person holding one of our Certificates could fill in an idea that required thinking, and then choose check boxes to indicate the types of thinking desired. We would bring the ideas and certificates to our meetings and do the thinking. I found great joy in that environment, learning and practicing the creative thinking skills.

That was quite a while ago. We are all dispersed now, and our president passed away 3 years ago.

I am happy to find the Edward de Bono Society online, and revisit an arena for skilled thinking.

I'll do some more posting later in the summer.

Best regards,
Arlene
