How we evaluate the impact of Hats.

Friday March 18 saw a full house at The Airlie Leadership Development Centre for training in the Six Thinking Hats.Toward day's end one of the participants asked if we were going to distribute feedback/evaluation forms. My response was "Absolutely not, never in a million years." Of course I then had to explain myself for fear of being seen to be too blase about the whole matter of evaluation.Over the…See More

Profile Information

Frank who?

I have recently jumped ship from Victoria Police into private consultancy.

My 15 years in Govt was defined by some great successes and noble failures and over this journey I have used many tools and methods and now concentrate solely on those that I know from experience have impact and have what I like to call a "hard edge."

It is these contemporary and impactful methods that we bring into the "Think Quick" business for the purpose of bringing about demonstrable & measurable value for those we work with.

http://think-quick.com.au/

Previous to Police I managed a whole of Govt Network of 4200+ members dedicated to Improvement and innovation, and prior to that I spent three years at the Dept of Justice as Manager of Knowledge and Innovation.

Much of my life to date has been split between Australia & Papua New Guinea where I have worked in both Pay TV and Broadcast Radio and a checkered career also includes, Zoology, PR, Change Management and travel at every conceivable opportunity. Listed amongst my key influencers are Louis Feinberg, Jerome and Harry Horwitz.

Lateral Thinking for Conservation

Posted on February 2, 2011 at 11:00 4 Comments

We know that one of the great difficulties in getting people to understand the absolute necessity for creativity and lateral thinking is that all good lateral solutions will appear logical in hindsight. So, if the solution is logical we don't need lateral thinking only logical thinking.…

Making it a part of normal business

Posted on April 6, 2009 at 15:30 1 Comment

The greatest challenge is not so much in the huge perspective shifts or the developing that novel world altering idea, rather it is in making the tools a part of normal day to day business. The real value of the tools is lost if they are seen solely as a means of “wiz-bang” problem solving.

Here in the Victorian State Government in Australia, we have now trained over 500 staff in the use of the Six Thinking Hats and are now starting to roll… Continue

Hi Frank - I wonder if there is any way you and I could wangle some money somewhere to get you over to WA - partly to satisfy your travel lust (well maybe not lust - just a tickle given Perth's probably not a travel FIP for you) ... and of course mostly to start an avalanche of interesting possibilities in the WA public service ... oh and of course another reason is for me to take you to dinner and talk talk talk about lots of stuff like ... ah ... hmmm ... thinking? ... no forget that ... just about lots of stuff!

Thanks for the story can I share it, it's fantastic? What huge success you have had with the government. Am I correct in my assumption from Kim that you work with Susan?

I don't know whether or not you hear any Irish news, but after the emergency budget from hell I won't be holidaying anywhere for a long time, in fact at this stage I'll be lucky to hold onto my house! It's a very hard hitting budget in order to pay back the huge debt the banks and developers have got us into. How they so need some Lateral!

Did you have a pioneer in the government who started the ball rolling?

Hi Frank,

Welcome to the debonosociety. What a fantastic story, it's exactly the reason we started the debonosociety, in order to share these wonderful experiences. I wish you ongoing success. Thank you for sharing this with us, stories like this drive us all forward and when we are tired and despondant, it is uplifting. Now I want to change the world to think in parallel!

Please invite all your business associates and colleagues to join.

Looking forward to more.

Kind regards. Linda

P.S. Looking forward to hearing the toilet story!!
