Serious? Maybe, maybe not!

Often we call someone's view an opinion when we do not agree with them. If you explore "young adults' opinions" they are based upon facts and knowledge. It might not be parents' facts or knowledge. . . but nevertheless is it facts and knowledge. They rely more on emotions when they make a judgement, is that wrong?

From Wikipedia
"scientific opinion" is the general opinion of a professional scientific body gained through extensive research with a reproducible, unbiased conclusion soundly based upon the facts derived from the experiment[2]. A scientific opinion which represents the formally-agreed consensus of a scientific body or establishment, often takes the form of a published position paper citing the research producing the scientific evidence upon which the opinion is based. "The scientific opinion" (or scientific consensus) can be compared to "the public opinion" and generally refers to the collection of the opinions of many different scientific organizations and entities and individual scientists in the relevant field.

Suddenly opinion does not sound too bad;-) And maybe that is a good start for a young adult.

Are you serious Asa? Considering the definition of the word "opinion" : A view or judgment formed about something, not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.
The beliefs or views of a large number or majority of people about a particular thing.

I hope that she will find a less judgemental living through better THINKING.

Does teaching someone to think mean that they will have less opinions? I am not convinced!

Tell, you kids they will have more opinions instead! And they will learn to find ways to persuade dad of all sorts of things - just by thinking!

Thanks. A fellow parent can appreciate that. A young adult in America... it is a different ball game. They KNOW better and they have opinions and judgement clouding their views so thinking tools are more important than ever to enable the new generation to see beyond the illusions they are so readily being pulled into. I sincerely hope that she will come to this forum and learn.

Time will tell. I just had the chance to introduce her to the 6 Hats. Using these photos, I hope to have her attention to investigate the DeBono books.
