Dobilas,
Thanks for questions. I remember Prof. Gardner did some research work in evaluation in education, which was the reason that I treated him as social scientist for education. (Note: I normally use the practice in US and UK for using the title of Prof. I guess both Howard and Edward should have the official title of Prof.)

I agreed with you that all the views are changing, especially with the presence of newer experiences. But the statement does not mean they are changing every seconds. So, we do have established views in certain time frame, especially when linked to established persons. An example is Six Thinking Hats. In academic research, people trend to target the established views.

In academic, established scientists continue to perform research and continue to improve their established views. Harvard business school is famous for their re-package and re-newal of existing concepts. As people are more willing to use newer concepts, "new" itself is a selling point. Thus, more companies are willing to try their approaches. The researchers then get more experiences and further improve the researches.

[More later. Busy today. I will try come back tomorrow.]

I guess I had a chance to attend a talk from Prof. Howard Gardner many years ago. I treated him as a social scientist for education. It is very easy to find differences (or sometimes, special cases) in social sciences and then use the differences to attack established views. This can be viewed as development in science with the improvements in understanding.

But here, I try to express my different views to Six Thinking Hats. It is very simple. But it targets the complex thinking process. That means there are rooms to improve it. I would like to see some sorts of continual research to improve this approach.

Dobilas,
Having lived abroad for a while, I tend to ask the question the other way around. Why is the world so reluctant to test ideas? Hmm. . .

I shall see if I can find some information in English about the Swedish curriculum. I think the State handed over much of the responsibilty to the city councils in the 1990s and this opened up the Swedish schools. I also have the impression that since everyone's opinion is taken into account in a way that is both in a positive and negative way quite unique in Sweden, the possibility to test different ideas is inevitable. It is difficult to get everyone to agree about one idea, or even impossible! So several ideas can be tested and explored. As long as teachers' are trained in the different ideas, I think this is a wonderful thing.

Ah, Philosophy for children that is great. Tell me more:)

Kim,

Confusing students is the teacher's mission in life, and no, I am not a teacher!

I could find the website again, but it was a Swedish school and you need to translate the information. But if you want me to I can find it.
I think the school used the ideas about "Five Minds for the Future" to highlight the importance to respect the students' differences, and to encourage the students to find and try different things. The school might have used the differnt learning styles. I shall see if I can find out.

I saw a school who included both EdB and HG in the curriculum. So maybe there is no need for a disagreement. People take and make something of ideas and create their own view!

Avril,
So if I understand you correctly, you are disagreeing with the title. That is a good start. . .
