Sorry for not answering for a few days. At the moment we are collecting all results so far, concerning our last fokus=freezing water, etc. => in one file.
This file will be published here for everyone to read and to comment upon.

So far so good:
+ Several EdB methods have been practiced and there is progress
+ collaboration tools have been identified and tested
+ we had at least on chat per week
+ seeing and talking to eachother brought a new and interesting perspective - it made a change
+ small group of people, who stay with it
- lack of interest/time of other people
- small group in chat
- still not too eficient with collaboration tools (but getting better ;-)

I - growing interest from other people
I - collaboration tools in general

Finally - we could start thinking about meeting in Real Life somewhere, within a year. It would mean a lot to our working together.

Are there interesting events, if possible with EdB, so we could meet and have some business info/contacts as well?
One possibility would be: Malta, around March next year (if everything stays the same).
Southafrica might be too close already

any other events?

Have a nice day,
Jakov

Didn't mean to miss it, Jakov, but I was still working at the time. Hopefully that won't be the case for at least some of the next ones.

So what came of it?

Hello all (not Cal only ;-)

This is the link for tonight´s "Chat" (which isnt a simple Chat anymore).

You need a decent connection speed, so we can hear your voice and maybe you can see me. Maybe i see some of you, would be fun.

See you

Jakov said: @Cal: Thank you for this input. Actually it would be great to have an engineer in the chat (for ideas but also for judgement).

But please keep in mind, that we are not only here just for finding great ideas but practicing together as well.

Practicing finding great ideas works for me. :)

If those 2 quotes are valid, then they seem quite important in assessing some of the ideas that have been generated regarding at least the BP spill.

As for wanting an engineer for judgement, unless they know the constraints accurately, they may make some wrong assessments - I've run into this on a # of occasions before, where engineers have told me things that proved wrong.

The 2 comments I quoted were responses from people to an engineer's idea of how he believed the BP oil spill could be stopped.

Hello all!

back from holidays - a week of sailing in a great looking adriatic sea - i am looking forward for tonight´s chat.

Today i would like to do a Six Hat session on the suggestion of Mr. De Bono. Lets see where this will lead us.

@Cal: Thank you for this input. Actually it would be great to have an engineer in the chat (for ideas but also for judgement).

But please keep in mind, that we are not only here just for finding great ideas but practicing together as well.

For the chat tonight please follow this link: https://xing1.spreed.com/c/640482792/spreed/114/panel
The Chat will start at GMT 9:00.

it should start a collaboration tool (Spreed).

If it does not work please contact me. I will be online almost all of the day.

I don't know if anyone brought up these 2 points I came across on the net (still working my long days, so haven't been around much), but if they're valid, maybe some thought given to them as well at some point might have merit:

It amazes me how so many people have NOT heard BP's official statement about a "problem" in the casing some 1000 feet below the ocean floor.
What this means is that back pressuring the BOP (say by putting a large steel and brass cork in it!) would blow out the sea floor and the oil would flow unobstructed from the ground, never to be stopped! This would be a 'bad thing'!
This is why the containment cap intentionally doesn't make a good seal and doesn't capture all the oil.
The only hope here is the two relief wells being drilled and those have huge risks as well.

and

There are plenty of knowledgable, qualified people, like myself (I have a Professional Engineer license) who have come up with ways to stem the oil flow, however, because of the potential liability and cost issues involved, BP cannot use anyone else's ideas.

It's less a technical issue than a legal one.

Can we explore the possibility of freezing the water around the well as a temporary measure including rocks in the ice to stop it floating up. Should this happen again.

Hello to everyone,

todays Chat was about "how to prevent the press to write rubbish in emergency situations" as our working focus.
we have been using the www.spreed.com tool again, where we created a mindmap (Free Mindmap) as a documentation of the process.

Our method today was "Provocation". If you would like to see the results, please write to me so i can send you the file.
Maybe there is a way to share this file here, but i will have to look for this.

In the meantime - take care and lets meet in two weeks again.
I will be off again for a week of Sailing in the Croation Adriatic.

All the best to you,
Jakov
