http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lateral_thinking The wikipedia entry changes from month to month. I have often changed it to more accurately reflect what lateral thinking really is only to have it changed again by someone who things its just brain storming or a weak replacement for critical thinking etc. Last I looked there was too much emphasis on problem solving and nothing about design.
