Creative Team

Many years ago I set up a 'Creative Team' which operated for a while but died from lack of attention. I would like to ask you all to consider doing this again. 1000 creative brains! Please submit your ideas here. How you propose this would work.

Only Intelligent can be humourous

Fantastic disambiguation suggestion by Arlene! I'm moving house right now, but eventually I'll play in that sandbox...
Reminding people that Jakov and I are having that real-time chat here to focus on the Gulf Oil Spill topic in the chat window on Thurs. You're all invited.

Hi, Ken,

I took a look at your link to Google Docs dBS creative teams idea process. YOu did a good job to set up a collaborative document like that--has the potential to become a dedicated "wikipedia" for all things de Bono.

To that end, I request that you add another category: Glossary.

In the Glossary, I would like to see explanations for all the acronyms and jargon I have seen flying around in the posts here.

I realize you can find these things scattered around the web, but it would be great to have everything in one convenient place/list.

--write out the acronyms for all 60 CoRT skills
--write out the definitions for the 6 colors (hats)
--write out definitions for other popular phrases (area focus, purpose focus, etc.)
--write out other acronyms and their explanations (PoP, DATT, Lat, DOCA, Tec-Posco, etc.)

It might be a tedious job, especially to organize it by relevant section, but should be worth it, for new people and experienced people who need reminders.

Thanks much,
Arlene

Anthony,

Ants like to herd aphids and aphids like to live on rosebushes and munch the buds.
Perhaps some rosebushes, planted in a direction away from your pavers might help.

In NJ, where I live, we have a wonderful extension service at our state university (Rutgers) which helps with things like that. Maybe something similar at a state university where you live, or perhaps your local/regional garden club.

Good luck!

I do believe some of us are idiot when it comes to solving oil spill. We simply have no idea what others are talking about. Although we have our own skills in earning a living but solving oil spill is not our cup of tea. So we take a back seat rid just listening and learning from others more competent in this area.

Bringing out your frustration is the best thing for the creative team. These frustrations could be the probable cause for the collapse of the original creative team. People leave the group rather than voicing out their frustrations. This is just an assumption only.

Hi - thank you ... thank you ... thank you ... Ken ... for your Google doc !

I have added some points too (I hope they are still there, I havent used a Google doc before) - I absolutely share your sentiment in regards to making this on-line thinking community function well - with or without db's direct involvement - designing a functional process that efficiently uses db's tools can be submitted to db ... as he has requested ... when we've designed it ... then we can get on with being a creative thinking community (I'm sure Dr de Bono will embrace 'community' as a 2010 update on his concept of 'team') ...' whether we get feedback or not... my frustration has been the sprawling, fuzzy, narrow and hasty de-fault thinking (for anyone interested, these de-fault thinking habits can be checked out in Dr David Perkins book: Outsmarting IQ: The New Science of Learnable Intelligence) that has taken us away from this fundamental task ...oops sorry that was all a bit sprawling, that's what happens when I dont get clear with my Purpose Focus! :-) A

TOOLSET:
Ken, Thx for adding to the toolset in a very practical way. Using the comment wall and the discussion group as our only toolset is like asking a short order cook to prepare a gourmet meal.

CLIENT:
Since the original post was made by or on behalf of EDB it is reasonable to think of him as the client. Part of meeting a client's needs includes getting additional input & feedback from the client - and that hasn't happened.

TALENT DISENGAGING:
The "1/9/90 rule" says 1% will actively contribute, 9% will participate & 90% not do much of anything. So far the contributors to these post probably fit mostly in the 1% slot - generally the most desirable ones to have involved.
However, without a response from the client, the 1%s will disengage - i.e. you lose the talent you sought to engage.

The frustration expressed by Steven, Cal, Kim, myself and others at the lack of infrastructure, leadership, structure, direction, cohesion, etc - is party driven by lack of feedback from the client.

Q: Is anyone representing EBD actually listening ?
Even a "we'll get back to you" response would help at this time.

BENEFITS:
Having said that, one of the benefits to me of this forum has been meeting several of you - and I hope to develop those relationships. Thank you - I've already learned a lot. However, our initial common bond was EDB, and I feel he risks losing out if there is no client engagement...

Hi, all,

If we are going to have a viable "Creative Team", we ought to consider a ratio of time and effort spent:
--for thinking about "real" things (like finding a solution for the BP oil spill)
--for self-processing

A usual ratio might be 80% for thinking about the "real" stuff and 20% for self-processing.

If too much time is spend on self-processing, people will get frustrated and drift away.

I've been feeling frustration here, because there seems to bed too much self-processing going on. From some of the comments I've read, others may be frustrated with this as well.

We are lucky to have on the table:
--a real situation where we can apply our skills (the oil spill)
--a structured way to participate/collaborate with others (via the "ideaconnection.com" link)
--the possibility of an X-prize to galvanize us into taking some action
--group members who are willing to step up to the plate in a leadership role.

Stephen, Cal, you were taking us in a good direction a week ago, then the group barraged you with an avalanche of self-processing.I can understand and appreciate your frustration.

Stephen, you said if anyone would like to follow you in another forum, to please let you know.

I would dearly like to follow you, but I am hoping you can pick up the reins again and do it here. This is the EdB Creative Team, and as such, it has a certain cache.

On another note, my husband and I are getting ready to travel--from mid-July until mid-August, with only intermittent access to email. So little likelihood of any posts from me for a while.

Not because I'm frustrated--but because I'm enjoying the coast of Maine, sailing, fishing, spending time with old friends, taking care of my brother, reinvigorating the neurons!

Meanwhile, I'd like to see some good stuff here when I tune in, and some lively topics to come back to. You all are a breath of fresh air!

Happy summer!

Hi everyone

What process would the dBS Creative Team use to come up with ideas together?

I have created a document where everyone can post their ideas on this topic, under a range of headings.

Please follow the link to the editable document...

https://docs.google.com/document/edit?id=17WCL616mXNzt0J0ylk2DYi0Bg...

I hope this google docs format will be useful for collecting ideas from many members of the dBS in one useable and readable place.

With or without de Bono's involvement directly, making this online thinking community function well is something I'm very interested in!
