I found one additional reason:

Sharing of thinking --- I can put the 6 hat thinking in a structured way and then share to websites.
I put down a simple iPhone App on 6 hats in the weekend, and tried with my children. The App allows the users to input the ideas for each hat. The user can save the ideas and edit later.

When using with my children, I found the App helps the thinking process. In the last few months, I discussed with them. Sometimes, I found the children may forget a few ideas and may give contradicting ideas. With the App, I typed the ideas in the iPhone while they are saying the ideas. The App lists the ideas of all the hats on the screen. They can see what they have said while giving new ideas. They gave less contradicting ideas. At the end, we felt some soft of fulfillment by looking at a complete list of the ideas for the 6 hats.
About 6 hats for an iPhone App, I found it can help to show the change of red hat when my children are going through the other five hats.
I am planning to add another red hat in the App. The user first input the feelings as the initial red hat. He/she then input the other hats. He/she can switch among other 5 hats when adding ideas. At the end, he/she inputs feelings again.
On the screen, the App will show:

Topic:
Red Hat (Initial):
Yellow Hat:
Black Hat:
White Hat:
Green Hat:
Blue Hat:
Red Hat (End):

This helps to show the effect of thinking, i.e. from initial emotional actions to more matured approaches in dealing with issues. The thinking process changes the red hats. After seeming the change, they start believing thinking is important.
Today, Apple finally approved the App (named "Six-Hats") that I used with my children. In addition to record ideas for 6 hats, I also added generation of Random Word, and I Ching. Personally, I use both Random Word and I Ching for my own thinking with this App.

Hope that this can be useful to some people. Any comments are welcome.
I realize today that Apple allows the owner of App to give the out the App for free. I applied some codes from Apple today. If anyone wants to have Six-Hats App, give me a note and I will pass a code to you.

By the way, I used to write programs for my research activities. I learned the iPhone programming starting last year for the purpose of tracing the growth of the trees (Planting trees is my hobby). For the Six-Hats App, the initial objective was to record the ideas when I was practicing 6 hats with my children. I further spent a couple of weekends to make the App more user friendly, and added I Ching & random words.

I believe this App helps practicing 6 hats. It cannot replace the roles of the teachers. With my experience, I believe we need someone that can think to teach thinking. But I do hope the App can help teachers for asking students to practice.
This is really cool! Makes me wish I had an iphone... but not enough to buy one. If you make a webpage somewhere about it, I'll talk it up to other people. Of course, how to download it too. Hope it becomes popular!
Franis, thanks for this. This can be searched from Apple's iTune Store with the keyword Six Hats. I asked my son to develop a web site on this but it seems to me that it will need some more time to make it more useful (http://six-hats.squarespace.com/).

I am also working on an App for monitoring tree grow. I have been thinking to put the Apps for Android phones. Both "thinking" and planting trees are my hobbies. I still have a full time job. So it will take some time to complete them.
I further added Sequence to the Six-Hats App for iPhone/iPod/iPad. The App is now being reviewed by Apple and I expect it will be released by Apple for update in one week.

For this App, I believe it is now a good tool for practicing six thinking hats. Some more improvements will be further added.. Any suggestions are also welcome.
Once the week is past, why don't you write a blog post about developing this App for the iPod/IPhone? This is something that would be interesting to pretty much everyone on this site, not just the people who are part of the Creative Team group. Be sure to include the link/information about how to get the software in your post.
Franis, thanks for the suggestions. I will try to do what you suggest, and hope to get more input from the users.
About the program, after further tests with my children, I found it is better to group the sequences. So, I revised it again before Apple reviewed it. That means it will take another week.
after the 'touch' mobiles we could go on to 'speech' mobiles !! a mobile which could dial numbers just when we say dial and name of a person in contacts, send messages we speak by converting it into readable text, convey automated messages of busy etc by just hearing a "busy" from the mobile owner etc etc. This solves all the problems of senior people and the handicapped too. For e.g. the blind dont need to see while using mobiles... they only need to spk into the phone to do the activities required to be done by the mobile... I think this is innovative, creative and an upgradation which will redefine the use of mobiles extensively !! what say ...
i had written a short blog on this too not pretty long back!! i was contemplating on SPEECH MOBILES after the touch technology.  the seniors, the handicapped like the blind or otherwise challenged people would also be operate such mobiles.  the speech technology would enable dialing/storing/calling/hanging a number just by speaking on to the phone rather than punching the keys.  it could also facilitate sending sms by speaking into the phone !! i think this will largely facilitate and revolutionize the way mobiles are dealt with today!!
