I find few topics discussing second order creative thinking,namely,using creative thinking tools to develop new creative thinking tools. New tools that are more suited for specific requirements or are more efficient.

I entirely agreee with you on the use of Six Hats for and by the young minds is of greater value. As regards sequencing of hats once they have learnt it they ought to use their own creative ability to change the sequence according to the need. By second ordercreative thinking would be to use Six hats to design a new thinkng tool .I often ask people who have leart Six Hats to allpy Six Hats to Six hats itself ! That is to asses the usefulness of Six Hats to their organization following Six Hats technique.
