For a long time I've been frustrated by romantic comedies - the idea of a story based on love and humour holds a lot of promise but I almost always get disappointed. Overwhelmingly, the writers seem to have no sense of direction.

So I wrote my own romantic comedy.

Half way through writing the book the concept of "Value Bubbles" appeared on this web site, and I included it to give the book a unifying theme.

I think it works well, but of course it does not matter what I think.

What do readers think?

What if you haven't got a Kindle?

There are readers for PC, Mac, most variants of smartphones.

You buy it once and download on any number of different devices.

It's great. I love reading this way. Everyone will enjoy Phil's novel. I just have to get an iPad so I can do it lying in bed.

Congratulations Phil! Now you have time for the other project, ha ha ha! Thanks for the link to the free Kindle download for PC. I hope it works so that I who have nothing can read your book.

You don't have nothing Asa, you have my undying admiration.

During the month I spent writing the book I took a week off to work on the other project - it is never far from my mind!

Adonis,

Thank you for enthusiastic response to the book.

I expected the intelligent and creative people here at the de Bono Society to enjoy the book - but was worried that no one else would. Happily I've just spoken to a non-academically inclined friend (she thinks you need to be really smart to finish high school) - and she says she's really enjoying the book!

Thanks Shamir,

I don't think I did your concept of Value Bubble justice, but there's always a chance for a sequel.

Oh my - lots has happened while I've been away. I read the "teaser" on Amazon, and it cut off at just the right point to hook me in! What a cool idea to use a "value bubble" in a story... This reminds me of "Jack's Notebook" by Gregg Fraley - a novel that shows how to use creative thinking techniques by the character's examples in the story.

Hi Franis,

Glad to see you're back. Kim's been worried that the dBS has become too macho - I'm sure that you're capable of single-handedly redressing the imbalance :)

The Value Bubble concept was dreamed up by Shamir - it gave my novel some focus.

Thanks Luis,

I hope the book will surprise you.

Ridicule.

Hi Luis,

I like this - it's kind of like a concept fan.

I note that you say you don't have the complete materials - don't forget you can get them from www.cortthinking.com (plus you get videos of Edward de Bono explaining them).

Now just to be clear, the question I answered when I said "ridicule" (which, by the way, you chose not to include in your list), is "How to defend your own values when people around you are acting in concert to obliterate them?"

In general, of course, you should be welcoming other people explaining their values because it provides the opportunity to learn something.
