Hello to all members and visitors of Edward de Bono Society,
i will use this discussion as an tool to announce regular events, exspecially our weekly chat in the "US Oil Spill" Group: http://www.debonosociety.com/group/ideasforoilspill
The Chat will take place on Saturday 24th, 9:00pm GMT
10am Sat. USA-Hawaiian standard time,
1pm Sat. USA-Pacific Daylight time,
4pm Sat. USA-Eastern Daylight time,
10pm Sat. Vienna-Middle European time,
6AM on Sunday in Sydney,
8am Sunday in Auckland, etc.
This weekends fokus:
How to make containing the oil out at sea politically acceptable?
Usually we work in a structured way, starting with the focus, followed by a certain sequence of the Six Hats. This sequence is rather short and may not include all hats.
We also use Lateral Thinking, CoRT and other methods - but in a quite flexible way. Anyone can follow this sequence and use the tools.
A basic explanation is given and usually i dont use too many "technical" terms.
Sequence for this saturday:
1. Collect facts - optimal, if you could do that until saturday and add your facts, current thinking of people, missing info about the topic to this discussion: http://www.debonosociety.com/group/ideasforoilspill/forum/topics/wh...
2. look for ideas by challenging the status quo: what would be if we stop doing things, expecting certain actions/non-actions, etc; looking for alternatives to existing procedures will be a major part of this exercise.

Yes, I agree.
Jakov knows how to encourage you to use the brain in ways that at least I had no idea about. And he knows how to make a fun and genuine attemp to explore a challening subject.

Luis, everyone should be sorry for missing out on this one. Jakov did a great job, and I learnt a lot. Thanks Jakov.
Unfortunately, we had stopped having meetings but we did make a document with some of our ideas so it was very productive and fun;-)

Asa and I had quite a bit of fun with Jakov during this stage learning about how directing thinking would work. It's possible that he might be enticed back to offer some more of his thinking education.
You might try proposing something to apply thinking skills about - (maybe something political?) and ask him directly...
